Periodically (for students, each semester or annually?) assess your skills, what do you do well, what could you do better, what do you wish you did that you don’t, come up with a plan for how to make it happen. Reassess. Repeat.
invest in the identity formation of “I am a technologist”
Encourage the students who are learning the technology that they ARE technologists. Do this from the start. As first years come in and learn wordpress, word, presentation software, discipline specific software etc, that they are the ones in charge. Invest in self-confidence. There isn’t someone else who “knows all” but consdier crowd sourcing as a […]
interdisciplinary course on persuasive images
Can we create a course that uses info graphics (graphs) and other images to discuss how an image can persuade one way or the other? Is this a plug in?
Discoverability is a public good–we are all artists now
Digital pedagogy and humanities increases “discoverability” across platforms. Education changes with technology so that it is not just for the Academy, but bleeds across borders, becomes publically accessible. Increasing discoverability is a public good. Make Alston an indoor tree house
What if instead of a big open space where the TV is in Aslton across from Mollie’s coffee there was an intricate series of tree house style cubbies where students could meander/walk/crawl/cozy into to study and have coffee? It could go up all the way to the 2nd floor. Carpeted, pillowed, with electricity.
Houses Like Walden
We could build sustainable/solar paneled houses down by the pond with composting toilets. Partner with GA tech architecture students and build five houses around the pond that are state of the art “tiny houses”. Then rent them out to people as artist/writer retreat. People in them could eat at dining hall, shower at gym. http://www.popsugar.com/home/Photos-Tiny-Houses-14945418#photo-35377248 […]
